On Women's Day

On Women's Day
March 8, 2025

New stories, new lines of inquiry and new collaborations move us forward. Today, I join in celebrating all the beautiful women — those with us now and those who came before — who inspire change. The women who taught us to reach for the stars, showed us compassion, and offered moral perspective on what is deemed good and just.

Most of all, I reflect on the reality that women’s history is marked by both resilience and excruciating struggle — shaped by a world that has too often overlooked or mistreated us. Acknowledging this truth, I wish you all an International Women’s Day.

This day highlights the remarkable strength and wisdom that women continuously contribute to society.

We women are one — no matter where we come from, the language we speak, or the traditions we hold close home. We stand united and stronger than ever. Together, we will continue dismantling every barrier, stereotype, and injustice that threatens our freedoms. Our journey is not just about who we are — or even who we were — but who we become. We are the daughters of mothers who paved the way, the granddaughters of women who endured the storm when they had no other choice. And we are the sisters and friends who now rise to tear down the walls that have kept us out.

As a Latina, I carry with me the strength and dreams of las mujeres indígenas — de la mujer latina. I am here for them, for us. And to you, dear reader — please know this: your story, your voice and your dreams are seen and heard. I believe in them, and I believe in you.

At Khipú, we believe in the power of women. We stand with women and affirm that now more than ever, women’s voices and fellowship belong at the forefront of contemporary debates and scholarly discourse.

With admiration,
May
